Financial Planning for
Sakura Gardens of Los Angeles
Beyond priceless peace of mind, senior living can be more cost-effective than remaining in your home. We understand that financial considerations are a significant part of this transition, and our goal is to provide clear, reassuring information to help you plan confidently.
How Much Does
Senior Living Cost?
The cost of senior living at Sakura Gardens depends on the individual’s needs and required level of care. Before a new resident moves in, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to ensure we tailor our services to provide the best possible support and value.
Our all-inclusive monthly fee typically covers:
- Housing: Comfortable and secure accommodations
- Meals: Delicious, chef-prepared meals served daily
- Care Services: Personalized assistance with daily activities, medication management, and more (based on assessment)
- Housekeeping: Regular cleaning and linen services
- Activities & Programs: A vibrant social, recreational, and wellness calendar

Senior Living vs. Homeownership: A Cost Comparison
Many families are surprised to discover that the “all-inclusive” nature of senior living can often be more financially predictable and less burdensome than the ongoing costs of homeownership. When comparing, consider these everyday expenses associated with maintaining a home in Los Angeles:
- Mortgage or Rent Payments
- Property Taxes
- Home Insurance
- Utilities: Electricity, gas, water, internet, cable, trash removal
- Home Maintenance & Repairs: Unexpected expenses for plumbing, roofing, appliances, landscaping, etc.
- Groceries & Meal Preparation
- Transportation Costs
- Out-of-Pocket Healthcare Expenses
- Social & Recreational Activities
At Sakura Gardens, our comprehensive services help save you time, stress, and often money by consolidating various expenses into one predictable monthly fee. This allows residents to enjoy their golden years without worrying about home upkeep.
Ways to Save on Senior Living Costs
Sakura Gardens provides several options to help with affordability:
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Accepted for Assisted Living and Memory Care.
- Resident Referral Program: $1,500 rent credit for residents who refer a friend; applied after the friend moves in for 90 days.
State Assistance Programs
We participate in the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) and Master●Care programs to help eligible residents.
Assisted Living Waiver (ALW)
The ALW is a California Medi-Cal Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) program that helps eligible seniors and adults with disabilities pay for care services in Assisted Living or Memory Care (room and board not included). The goals of ALW are to:
- Transition Medi-Cal eligible residents from nursing facilities into a community-based, home-like setting.
- Prevent institutionalization by providing support for those at risk of needing nursing home care.
Under ALW, participants pay only the current SSI rent amount, and Medi-Cal covers the remainder of approved care services. If you would like to learn more about the ALW program, please visit www.dhcs.ca.gov or contact us. We will be happy to assist you.
